S/V Hemingway’s Whiskey is an
excellent example of the elegant Clipper 48 designed by A.E. Luders
and built by the acclaimed Cheoy Lee shipyard. The beautiful
sweeping lines, clipper bow and varnished deck house present a
nostalgic and graceful form. With all the beautiful teak and holly
treatments you would expect down below.
She has
been cruised and lived aboard extensively throughout North America
and the Caribbean. In 2010 the boat was completely re-rigged with
new spars, new standing rigging, new turnbuckles, new chain plates
and new bow pulpit and dolphin striker. New sails were added in 2010
with a new asymmetrical added in 2013 as well. New canvas for sails,
dodger, bimini, cabin sun awning added in 2012.
The yacht
was refit in 2003 which included a new Yanmar 85 hp diesel engine,
fuel tanks, electrical upgrading, new headliner and rebuilt
butterfly hatches. New Awl Grip hull paint 2012. New teak decking
was expertly installed in 2002 . Including a 2012, 12 foot Carib RIB
with 15hp Yamaha outboard for tender. Down below the boat offers a
spacious two stateroom, two head layout with complete galley and
varnished teak joinery. Hemingway's Whiskey is a rare offering which
has been very well maintained and refitted.
Layout:
Forward
cabin shows shelves along each hull, vee berth with seat, lockers
and drawers below the berth, opening overhead hatch, escape ladder
with fixed and opening port lights. The forward head is next with
Wilcox-Crittenden manual marine toilet, hand shower, porcelain sink
with pressure faucet and opening port light. The port side passage
way to main cabin shows two hanging lockers
along hull side. Head and hanging lockers are designed for privacy.
The main cabin has mirror imaged sette/berth (pup out) and pilot
berths to port and starboard. The full width galley is next aft with
stove and sink to port and the work counter over the insulated
refrigerator locker to starboard. Main cabin shows tow butterfly
hatches, four opening cabin side portlights and one fixed cabin side
portlight.
The aft cabin shows double
berth at starboard quarter with navigation table and wet locker
across hull to port. The aft cabin shows two opening cabin side
portlights and a five step companionway ladder to cockpit centered.
The aft head is located between the galley and the aft cabin to port
and shows opening cabin side portlight, manual marine toilet,
porcelain sink with pressure faucet and hand shower.
The interior shows varnished teak and holly, varnished hardwood trim
on hardwood cabinetry and bulkheads, white panel ceiling. Structure
is strong and no evidence of weakness or movement.
