A new national class is being formed for L.
Francis Herreshoff's famous canoe yowl, the Rozinante - one of the finest sporting boats
afloat. This one-design racer appeals to the yachtsman who likes to depend on sail
alone, single-handedly pitting his skill against tide and wind.
The Rozinante is a good sea
boat and fast sailor under a small sail plan. Her comparatively shallow draft opens up new
waterways, for her sail area can be reduced without noticeably affecting her balance, and
she can be made to lay in a seaway under the mizzen alone.
The Rozinante easily carries six
and will sleep as many as four. A large double berth below deck accommodates
two adults and
a child. For getting on the water with minimum preparatory effort, the Rozinante is
without equal. She can be gotten under way or laid up for the night in only a few
minutes, unlike more complicated boats both large and small.
She comes with an
all-fiberglass
hull, deck, and cabin or in lifetime teak. The fiberglass model features deck,
cabin sides, cockpit, and trim of teak. |
