Hong Kong Sunday14th Oct, 2012. Taken from a Kite between 50 & 100 ' at around 4-5 kts - 3 kt wind + sailing speed of boat. Will work on different sailing angles and trying to work the kite tracking angles as I think she would look great on a broad reach with her Spinnaker or A-sail hoisted. Hope to do that this coming weekend.

This is my first sailboat and has been a huge learning experience from reglassing the bottom to restoring the deck I have been restoring this boat for 3 years now and have finally gotten to the place where I can sail and enjoy her and it has been well worth all the work.

I am a former Cheoy Lee OS 41 owner (Magic Moon) I have extensive experience with Cheoy Lees... The Offshore 41 was designed by Ray Richards and built from 1976 - 1978. Cheoy lee modified Richards design and built the Cheoy Lee 41 from 1979 - 1981. You have a listing for a Perry 41, with (8) owners. Unfortunately, Cheoy Lee did not built this Yacht. The Perry 41 was built by Litton from 1978 - 1985. Cheoy Lee Perry designs: 35, 44, and 48, as well as the motor-sailer. I hope this info dos not disappoint too many people... it is what it is. The previous owner spent a considerable amount of money rebuilding the boat. This included rewiring, New leather upholstery, epoxy bottom, new rigging and spar overhaul, engine and gearbox rebuild etc. I have only cruised Altair locally over the last two years of ownership and am planning an extensive cruise as soon as business permits. [the old story ..can afford the boat but not the time.] I have previously cruised the east coast of Australia from Sydney to Townsville in Queensland. Altair is my sixth sailboat.

We plan on leaving southern California and heading south to Mexico in October 08. Some of the projects I have involved myself with are installing double propane tanks with automatic crossover valving, complete refurbishing of original teak decks which we wouldn't trade for anything by the way and cabin lighting converted to cold cathodes. Next will be installation of a DC generator with 3000 watt inverter along with an integrated watermaker. She had been well kept and extensively upgraded previously by the previous owners and we are continuing that by replacing some electronics and adding more, and doing other upgrades and work. We plan to add more gear while we maintain the existing in preparation for extensive offshore cruising in the coming years. In the meantime we plan to continue our exploration of the Pacific Northwest waters, especially the Inside Passage of Vancouver Island, as we have time. If all goes well we will fully retire in a couple of years and push off for Mexico and perhaps beyond. We previously sailed to Mexico and the South Pacific on our Whitby 42, SV Maggie Drum, which we sold in NZ in 2008. Maggie Drum is now in Europe with her new owners who are going RTW with her. We would love to compare notes with other Goldenwave owners in the future.

Boat- "Takin' Off" - 1979 44' Robert Perry OWNER - Phil Martin AREA OF SAILING - Australia E-Mail Phil 2/07 I purchased the boat in Pensacola from the Evers back in February 2004 and sailed the boat home, arriving in Australia last month after completing a near 10,000 mile voyage. 'Takin Off' proved to be an excellent sea boat and averaged 136 miles a day between the Galapagos and Hiva Oa in French Polynesia on the longest leg of over 3000 miles. Best day 179 miles in 24 hours, and she still had speed in reserve! All new plumbing with electric heads, all new pipe, holding tanks. twin 3700 bildge pumps, twin fresh water pumps and wash-down. All new refrigeration. Removed entire sole, ran thru planer and refinished with Ultimate Sole (non-skid). Raymarine E120 system and radioes are next.

Slow Dance was owned by an old salt who sailed mostly single handed for 50 years, 10 of them recently on this boat. Unfortunately it was dismasted on a stormy night trip to St, Croix due to a chain plate failure. I bought it as a project boat soon thereafter. No new mast but converted to solar, got engine running, beefed up wiring, fixed watermaker, refrigeration, etc. All original teak throughout. Makes a great floating condo for now. E-Mail Paul & Richard You have a photo of a Cheoy Lee 48 with a red hull, 1981 by Bob Perry with the name of: "Lady Catherine." We purchased that exact vessel in Oct. 2001 from the sellers, Tom and Cathy Tungent. A previous owner had added a 3 foot sugar scoop as seen in the photo. Since purchasing the boat, we renamed it "King Richard." We've done a lot of work on it including new fuel lines and dual filters, new thru hulls, new exhaust and related plumbing, pumps, etc. some electrical, new feathering MaxiProp, etc. etc. The vessel has a wooden mast, cutter rigged. When we have the money, we'd like to replace it with a new aluminum Forespar mast and boom. We hope to sail the vessel to the south Pacific, time and money permitting.
